Writers Tears Double cask double Oak is an exclusive Irish whiskey made from two different casks and two styles of premium Irish whiskey. A blend of Single Pot Still and Single malt Irish whiskey. Aged in ex bourbon casks from Kentucky and French Cognac casks.

Scent: Sweet vanilla, cinnamon, plums and pear.
Taste: Citrus peel with chocolate undertones with delicious lingering spices.
Aftertaste: Elegant and full of flavor

Writers Tears Double cask is 3 times distilled, non-chill filtered and bottled at 46%. The whiskey is a joint product of the Walsh family (Ireland) and the Legaret family (Cognac, France).

The distillery:

Walsh Whiskey Distillery first opened its doors back in 1999. The distillery was created by Bernard and Rosemary Walsh, who as a family business have dedicated their work to reviving the old Irish whiskey tradition. It must be said that they succeeded.
They write themselves: “We create modern innovations and expressions, to the delight of palates worldwide, using ancient recipes from Ireland's golden era of Whiskey Distillation... Writer's Tears ('Author's Tears') is inspired by the historical bond between Irish artists and whiskey during the Irish Golden Age in the 19th century until the beginning of the 20th century.

Back then, Ireland was the biggest and best. When it came to whisk and when it came to literature, poetry and drama. Great artists and literary giants such as George Bernard Shaw, Oscar Wilde, WB Yeats, Lady Gregory, James Joyce, Samuel Beckett and Bram Stoker were well known in the local pubs, where they no doubt drew plenty of inspiration from the golden whiskey drops they found there. It is said that they enjoyed the whiskey to such an extent that even their tears were of whiskey – hence the name for this brand.
