Wild Series Rum No 40 Australia, distilled back in 2007, is an exclusive, 15 year single cask rum bottling from Romdeluxe. Produced by Australia's oldest distillery, Beenleigh Distillery, which was founded in 1884.

Color: Dark amber.
Scent: Intense fruit notes meet caramel, caramel and spices.
Taste: Full and complex on the tongue. Fruit notes of citrus fruits are accompanied by molasses, oak and caramel.
Aftertaste: Long lasting and soft. Good balance between spicy and sweet.

Based on molasses from local Queensland sugarcane and distilled in a copper pot still. After distillation, the rum has aged for 10 years in a former bourbon cask in a tropical climate, and has subsequently aged further for 5 years in a continental climate in Europe.

Tapped without filtering from cask no. 25 at a cask strength of 67% alcohol and mown limited, just 259 numbered bottles.

Wild series The Rum Series

Wild series Rum is the top series at RomDeLuxe, which contains the absolute most wild bottlings. The requirement for a "wild" bottling, in addition to tasting good, is that it must have an ABV of 60% or above and or be very old, preferably 30 years and above.

About the Distillery:

It is Australia's oldest registered distillery with a history dating back to 1884. In 1865, John Davy and Francis Gooding from England bought 300 acres of land in front of the Albert River. They named the clearing after their old Devonshire farm, which was called Beenleigh. The plan was that they would grow cotton on the land, but a more lucrative alternative appeared – namely sugarcane.
Legend has it that a man named James Stewart called The Bosum had a floating sugar mill aboard the SS Walrus along the Albert and Logan rivers. He had found a use for the excess molasses and made rum. In 1884 the SS Walrus washed ashore on Beenleigh Bank – no people on board, just The Bosun's Pot still. That was the start of Beenleigh Distillery.
