Laphroaig 10 years Islay single malt is the original Laphroaig and is distilled in the same way today as when Ian Hunter invented it 75 years ago. In the production of Laphroaig, malted barley is dried over a peat fire found only on Islay. This gives Laphroaig its particularly rich taste. When enjoying Laphroaig 10 Year Old, one first notices the distinctive smoky flavor, soon followed by a hint of seaweed and a surprising sweetness.

Scent: Peat smoke with seaweed scent, a medicinal essence in the scent with a hint of sweetness.
Taste: Here it is very surprising with sweetness that has a touch of salt and peat.
Aftertaste: Long and lingering with sweet seaweed and an aftertaste.

Ripening:

10 years aging in former Bourbon casks to give it smoothness and character with charred oak.

When talking about Scotch whisky, some believe that the art of distillation was brought to Islay by Irish monks. On the remote island, the art of distillation flourished in the hands of the islanders, whose illegal activities put the tax collector to the test. When the law was relaxed, several whiskey makers established legal distilleries, and a few of them were the two farmers, Donald and Alexander Johnston, who in 1815 founded their distillery on the island's south coast. The distillery remained in family hands for the next 139 years.
