Vista Alegre Vintage 2003

Vista Alegre Vintage 2003, which is harvested in 2003. Vintage port wine is only made in the years in which the port wine institute gives permission for it. The years you get permission, it is expected that the port will be unique and good, something you cannot make every year. Vintage 2003 is produced from grapes from the Douro valley's highest situated A fields.

Server for: Ripe cheeses, all kinds of desserts, cakes and as an aperitif. You can also serve it with a good piece of beef with a strong sauce.
Tips: It can be an advantage to decant it before serving, as there will often be sediment. Serve in large glasses and enjoy.

Port wine house:

The port wine house Vallegre is owned by the Cunha Barros family, who have been deeply involved in port wine production for four generations. The family's activities originate primarily from Quinta Vista Alegre, located deep in the Douro Valley near the town of Pinhão. The Quinta's vineyards cover an area of around 55 hectares planted with the region's best grape varieties, including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Roriz and Tinto Cão. The vines are very old, some are close to 100 years old. At Quinta Vista Alegre, they still use the old "Lagars", where the grapes are trodden with bare feet for several hours, for the absolute best port wine qualities.
Vallegre also owns the old family property Quinta Valle Longo and two other small properties. The family focuses on the production of port wines, but also makes a good proportion of table wines of the highest quality every year.
