Verdicchio di Matelica Valbona is easy to drink, suitable for simply enjoying on the terrace without the big fuss, but definitely also a wine that goes well with food.
Cantine Belisario, the leading local cooperative, produces a range of white wines all based on the Verdicchio grape. Every wine has its vineyard, and here it is the Valbona field. Terre di Valbona is a fine example of the high quality that characterizes all Belisario products.
Color: Clear, with a faint light green tint.
Scent: Clean, fresh, slightly sour scent of citrus and almond.
Tasting notes: Nice freshness and structure, with aromas of acacia, peach and lemon curd.
Serving suggestion: All kinds of fish, hot and cold appetizers. Dishes that include white meat, as well as simple pasta dishes and of course mature creamy, not too strong cheeses.
About the Vinhuset:
The Belisario Company was founded in 1971, and is one of the most important producers of Verdicchio in the area around the town of Matelica. The focus is on local wines with personality. All of Belisario's vineyards are located in the Alta Valle Esina, and this valley's location and climate are key to the company's wines. Here, there is plenty of lime in the soil and an inland climate with many hours of sunshine, which provides optimal conditions for aromatic, mineral and deliciously fresh wines. Belisario also works based on organic principles, and several of the wines are certified organic.
