Teeling Blackpitts peated is the first smoked whiskey bottled at 46 % from Teeling.

Scent: Barbeque color and smoke with ripe pear drizzled with honey, orange marmalade, caramel and allspice.
Taste: Lovely fruity taste filled with pineapple, pear and apricot, spicy notes with plenty of wood and salted caramel with a nice smoke.

Aged in ex-bourbon casks with some having been in sauternes casks, which gives a nice honey sweetness to the smoke.

Teeling Blackpitts peated is bottled at 46% alcohol.

Many may think that peat smoke is the domain of Scotch whisky. Indeed, peat has been a popular fuel in Irish kilns for many years, until it was replaced by coal, and the flavor changed as a result. Blackpitts is Teeling's first smoked single malt whiskey distilled in Dublin. The name "Blackpitts" is taken from an area which lies almost directly behind the distillery. In the old days, a large number of malthouses were located here, several of them among Ireland's largest.

Teeling Distillery:

The Teeling family has been making Irish whiskey since 1782, when Walter Teeling opened his distillery on Marrowbone Lane in Dublin. Dublin has traditionally been the heart of Ireland's whiskey production. The history of Ireland's whiskey production is incredibly exciting and dramatic and is largely connected to the country's relationship with England, for better or for worse. As many as 37 distilleries had smoke in their chimneys at the beginning of the 20th century. One by one the distilleries closed and since 1976 no whiskey has been distilled in Dublin - until now! The Teeling Whiskey Distillery is the first newly opened distillery in Dublin in over 125 years and the Teeling family see it as their mission to bring the art of distilling back to the heart of Dublin!

The characterful whiskey comes from 3 shiny pot stills, which are named after Jack Teeling's 3 daughters. 25% of the production is dedicated to whiskey of an experimental nature, making Teeling one of the most exciting distilleries to keep an eye on in the future.
