Dutschke 22 years Tawny Barossa Valley

22 years Tawny from Dutschke Barossa Vally is a blend of wines made up of a large number of grape varieties, including Verdelho, Grenache, Shiraz, Touriga, White Muscat, Pedro and Palomino.

Smell and taste: Lots of prominent notes such as rancio, buttery, fine dried oak, bitterness and a warm alcohol finish, all resulting in a complex length on the palate.

Assortment:

In recent years, Dutschke wines have put together an assortment of old popular wines, which has given them the opportunity to bottle a small volume of each assortment each year. The blend consists of a wide range of grape varieties, including Verdelho, Grenache, Shiraz, Touriga, White Muscat, Pedro and Palomino. Some of these casks are over 40 years old and they help to add juiciness and the characteristic. Each of these individual coveted wines has been rested and matured in oak barrels.

Dutschke Wines:

When Wayne Dutschke's grandfather bought the farm in the early 1930s, only a small portion of it was planted with vines. The rest was used for dairy cattle. Today, by far most of the 72 hectares of land is used for wine, and primarily Shiraz. Shiraz accounts for 45 hectares. In addition, Dutschke Wines has Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. At first the grapes were sold on to other producers, but in the 1990s they decided to keep some of the grapes themselves. Since then, their own production of wine grew to the level it is today. In 1998 they changed their name from WillowBend to Dutschke Wines.
