Talisker Special Release 2020 is an 8 year Single Malt bottled at 57.9% in a limited number. Based on a malt with a sumptuous maritime character, this ambitious Talisker bottling is the first to finish in pot-still Caribbean rum casks. It has sweetened the maritime scents and peppery kick of the Skye distillery's bubbly style with the bold dark and exotic sweetness of the warmer climes.

Scent: The golden greenish nuances with luscious pearls give light tingles in the fragrance along with the first notes that are sweet and maritime, with hints of molasses and crystallized sugar, which is layered with dried seaweed, crystallized salt and iodine, then by pear candies, sweet fruit candies, followed by of smoky undertones with notes of charred meat. A drop of water softens the intensity, enhances the maritime character and tones down the sweet notes, while giving a hint of smoke.
Taste: Medium with a soft rounded texture and tremendous flavor; salty and especially light sweetness before the intense Talisker piquant pepper takes over. Very dry. Water rounds it out, mellows the bold sweetness and accentuates the pepper, but the flavor profile is the same.
Aftertaste: Long piquant pepper and dryness that ends sweetly and smoky with the characteristic Talisker chili pepper sensation in the throat. With water, more rounded with the same style that leaves a hint of smoke on the tongue.
