Stony Creek Shiraz
Stony Creek Shiraz balances with a light creamy structure and a full palette of fruit aromas.
Scent: Plums, black cherries and a little freshly ground pepper.
Taste: Balances with harmonious creamy structure and long fullness with a whole palette of fruit aromas.
Stony Creek Shiraz is served with a good piece of meat, for example from the grill.
Serving temperature: 16-18°C.
The wine:
The grapes are harvested at optimum maturity and undergo a long fermentation. This is done to extract good color and intensity from the grapes. After fermentation, the wine is aged for additional complexity before being bottled.
Wine house:
Padthaway is located in South Australia, on the road from Adelaide to Melbourne. This area was first planted in the 1960s and with a high focus on quality. This has led to some of Australia's best wines coming from this coastal region. The area is a neighbor to Coonawarra and in 1940 it was found that Padthaway's climate and soil are very similar to the neighbour's. Therefore, the wines here are also very similar to theirs. The soil is best known for its high content of lime stone, which provides good drainage on the surface and holds on to the few water resources in the subsoil. Wines are made from many different grapes in the area, but the Shiraz wines are the most successful. In general, the wines are very elegant, with a good intensity.
Stony Creek offers a really nice and typical Shiraz. Harvested from relatively old vines, which gives good intensity in the wine.
