Sherry Amontillado Tio Guillermo Garvey

Sherry Amontillado Tio GuillermoAmontillado Garvey sherry has a lovely aroma of raisins, candied orange and some dried fruit.

Taste: Medium-bodied and dry with good intensity, where the flavors of dried fruit and orange peel come to the fore.
Server for: Nut cakes and desserts, soups, dried ham and tapas.

Serving temperature: 8-10°C

As a starting point when buying sherry, you can choose between:
Fine: Crispy and a good companion for tapas.
Amontillado: Good as an aperitif or light meat
Oloroso: Full-bodied version with a slight sweetness and good for soup.
Cream: Soft and rich companion for desserts.

Sherry production:

Sherry Amontillado Tio Guillermo is a Sherry originally produced as a Fino, where the flor layer on top has broken down and thus allowed an oxidation of the product. This gives the Sherry a greater fullness and more complexity. This Amontillado Sherry is made from Palomino and aged at Garvey in the Jerez district.

Sherry is made from grapes harvested in the Jerez district of Spain. After the alcoholic fermentation, alcohol is added and the strength of the wine increases. As a starting point, all Sherry is dry, but sweetness is added later.

The Sherry House:

Sherry comes from the southern part of Spain, in the area properly called Jerez. One of the world's largest and most complex wines, Sherry, is produced here. The majority is made from the relatively neutral Palomino grape, with most of the flavor complexity coming from the unique aging methods used to make the different types of Sherry.

Garvey is one of the oldest houses in the area, founded as far back as 1780 by William Garvey, an Irish aristocrat. He quickly made Garvey one of the leading producers in the area and despite changing ownership, Garvey is still one of the leading bodegas in the area.
