About Ron Cueva 1501:

Cueva is the name of one of the earliest tribes that had a home in Panama. The Cueva tribe was discovered in 1501 when the Spanish explorers and conquistadors first landed on the Panamanian shores. In their search for gold and wealth, they encountered the natives of the Cueva tribe. The story is unfortunately sad, because the Cueva tribe became extinct in 1535 due to the fight to protect their homeland. And the last members of the tribe disappear into history because of the diseases that come with the conquerors.

The Ron Cueva rum series is a tribute to the brave and valiant Cueva tribe, which has now returned to "conquer" the world with world-class Panamanian rum! They do this by taking advantage of the optimal climate to produce sugar cane. The cold nights and humid days, combined with a moderate rainy season, provide a long and efficient growing season that produces high-quality sugar cane.

The climate also helps to store the rum. A humid and moderate tropical climate provides perfect conditions for ripening complex world-class rum. In addition to fully storing rum, Ron Cueva also uses the "Sistema Solera" method. Although Panamanian legislation only requires rum to be aged in casks for a minimum of two years, Ron Cueva 1501 goes much further in their pursuit of quality – and ages their rum for 8, 12, 18 and up to 25 years.
