Rodney Strong Charlotte's Home Sauvignon Blanc

Rodney Strong Charlotte's Home Sauvignon Blanc has a wonderfully fresh and crisp white wine with aromas of green apples, citrus and freshly cut grass. The taste is wonderfully intense with the same notes and a good long aftertaste. Rod Strong established this vineyard in 1971 and named it after his wife. Today, this vineyard is still the backbone of Rodney Strong's Charlottes Home Sauvignon Blanc. Intense, crisp and delicate style with good length.

The grapes for this Sauvignon Blanc come mainly from the Charlottes Home field, but smaller amounts are also used from own fields in the Alexander Valley, as well as the Russian River Valley. The combination of the two valleys helps to give increased concentration and life to this white wine. The majority of the wine is fermented in temperature-controlled steel tanks, but 10 % is fermented in French oak barrels with full malolactic fermentation, for additional body in the wine.

Rodney Strong Vineyards is today owned by Tom Klein, who bought the winery in 1989. From the start, Tom has been interested in optimizing Rodney Strong Vineyards to meet the demands of the modern consumer for good wines. Investments have been made in new equipment for the cellar, fields have been replanted and cultivated according to rules for sustainable viticulture. It takes the best raw material to produce great wines and with vineyards in the best areas: Alexander Valley, Russian River Valley and Chalk Hill, Rodney Strong produces world-class wines that showcase the essence of Sonoma County.

In addition, Tom is a strong advocate for the environment and in October 2009, Rodney Strong became the first winery in Sonoma County to be defined as CO2 neutral. This is, among other things, achieved by a large installation of solar cells on top of the winery. One of the largest in the world for a winery; on a typical day in Sonoma, this plant generates enough energy to power 800 households.
