Murray McDavid was established by London wine merchant Mark Reynier, Simon Coughlin and Springbank Distillery's Gordon Wright. They quickly gained a reputation for maturing whiskey in interesting casks, especially fine wine casks. In 2000, the Murray McDavid team set about re-opening the closed Bruichladdich distillery on Islay.They used Jim McEwan, Islay's most famous Master Distiller.

Scent: Notes of a lot of fruit flow out of the glass together with vanilla and a hint of leather.
Taste: Very buttery in taste together with caramel cake and oak spices.
Aftertaste: Still creamy with dried fruit.
Righ Seumas ll is the fourth batch where they have rebelled against medium-tempered blends.
Rìgh Seumas II (pronounced ray shay-muss).
An overall blend worthy of kings, bursting with a variety of spirits, consists of 70% malt and 30% grain whisky. A very complex and unique recipe used.
This powerful blend is inspired by Jim McEwan. It is the spirit of Bruichladdich along with older malts from Auchentoshan, Tobermory, Arran and Old Rhosdhu. These whiskeys are matured in Bordeaux red wine barriques and blended with grain whiskey from Bourbon casks before resting in Sherry hogsheads.

Established early in 1994, Murray McDavid has quickly become a leading Scotch whiskey bottler. One of the first to start using a range of interesting casks in the Art of Maturation to produce inspired Scotch whisky.
In 2012, spirits giant Remy Cointreau bought Bruichladdich Distillery and Murray McDavid. Later, Murray McDavid was sold to its current owners, leading Scotch whiskey broker, Aceo Ltd. Today, Murray McDavid is home to the Coleburn Distillery in Speyside, where they continue the tradition of bottling artfully matured Scotch whisky.
