Prunotto Bansella Nizza Barbera DOCG

This Bansella Nizza from Prunotto is a pinnacle of wine production from the legendary Nizza area in Piedmont, Northern Italy. This area, with its characteristic soil consisting of clay and sand veins, is ideal for growing the Barbera grape, which contributes to the wine's remarkable aroma and exceptional freshness.

Color: Beautiful and deep ruby red
Scent: Seductive aromas of dark fruits, flowers and subtle notes of licorice.
Taste: Full-bodied, rich and fruity, it perfectly balances the characteristic acidity of the Barbera grape with a slightly oily touch. It is soft and round on the palate and has mild tannins, making it a friendly and inviting wine.

Vintage 2020 started with a normal winter season followed by a spring season characterized by dry and sunny periods that ensured early and even growth for the vines. However, May and June were more unstable with frequent rainy days, which affected the development of the vines. But also added beneficial groundwater reserves that prevented water stress in the summer. September brought ideal climatic conditions with significant temperature swings between day and night. Which resulted in perfectly ripe and healthy grapes that were harvested from the 11th to the 19th of September.

The quality of the wine is confirmed by the reviews. With an impressive rating of 94/100 POINTS from DinVinGuide, it is praised for its intensity and character, while the Ministry of Wine awards it 5 stars and describes it as a precise example of how good Barbera should be. The wine brain also gives its recognition with a rating of 90/100 POINTS and notes the wine as a powerful and heavy experience with a charming style.

The production process for this wine involved careful treatment of the grapes after harvest. Including destemming and crushing, followed by a six-day maceration on the grape skins at a controlled temperature. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation was completed before winter and the wine was then aged for 12 months in used barriques to achieve the desired complexity and elegance.
