With the Plantation Guyana Vintage 2007 as the next line of great rums, we come to a 15 year old Guyana rum from Demerara Distilleries Ltd. It is a blend between their Port Mourant still and column distilled rum. After aging for 13 years in the tropical climate, the rum is finally aged for 2 years in the characteristic Cognac cask in Europe - and then there is none added sugar, coloring or water!
This Guyana 2007 is a heavy, deeply structured rum that shows dark chocolate and earthy notes.
Scent: Intense and rich scent of cocoa and almond, vanilla and lime peel.
Taste: Here it follows the scent with more flowers and oranges, tobacco, raisins, berries, almond and hazelnut and also deep notes of balsamic and molasses, almost smoky, with leather and medicinal notes of ginseng.
Aftertaste: Very long, spicy and fresh on pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg, licorice and chocolate.
