Pinot Noir Mayance Belle Pays d`Oc
Pinot Noir Mayance Belle is precisely a red wine that perfectly matches our newfound penchant for elegant wines. Belle is darker than its famous brothers and sisters in Burgundy, but already in the aroma, there is no doubt for a second about the grape variety.
Scent: Lovely dark fruits like blackberry and cherry.
Taste: Again the dark fruits with fine spicy and peppery undertones. Tannins are velvety and elegant.
Server for: Tapas, pasta dishes, grill dishes, hard cheeses.
In the South of France, the Pinot Noir grape develops a thicker grape skin than in Burgundy, which gives the wine a darker color of darker fruit.
Vinification:
Pinot Noir Mayance Belle is aged in temperature-regulated steel tanks with daily pumping overs.
The Danes have really embraced Pinot Noir. With the modern, innovative Danish food scene in mind, it makes perfect sense with the elegant, light and juicy wines. It can also be seen as a backlash against the many years of extracted, ultra-heavy and high-alcohol wines. Belle Mayance Pinot Noir is precisely a red wine that perfectly matches our newfound penchant for elegant wines.
The wine with a little history:
Belle Mayance, which can be translated as "beautiful pastures" and it refers to a time when the winegrowers had general agriculture and animal husbandry alongside the viticulture. The livestock stayed in the spring and autumn at "Mayance". The Pays d'Oc region stretches along France's coastline and covers a large wine area of 120,000 hectares between the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees. Both Greeks and Romans have cultivated wine here. Today, more than 20,000 wine farmers, large and small, grow wine in the region. Here it is truly Mediterranean heat and sunny, but the cool sea breezes ensure the necessary cooling of the grapes during the night hours. To preserve fresh fruit and acidity, harvest is done early in the season and at the same time pick at night/early in the morning. After de-stemming, a careful pressing is carried out, the must is cooled, and fermentation is started in the stainless steel tanks. Here the temperature can be regulated so that fermentation can take place at approx. 26 degrees for approx. 14 days. This low temperature ensures that the fruity, fresh profile is maintained. Daily overpumping is carried out, which ensures more color and flavor for the wine.
Pays d'Oc wine
The area is a regional designation established in 1986 by local wine producers geographically covering the Languedoc-Roussillon area, as a designation that was open to using other grapes than only those from the south of France in the wines. However, to a large extent other French such as Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. The idea behind the category and the Vins de Pays d'Oc designation was to give free rein to make wines with a slightly more broadly encompassing wine style. There are requirements for the harvest yield per hectares and all Vins de Pays d'Oc must be approved by a tasting panel before it can bear the designation.
LGI Wines:
LGI is, since 1999, a French wine expert company focusing on and selling quality wines from the South of France, specifically Languedoc and Gascony. In close cooperation with local winegrowers, LGI promotes wines to the markets of various countries. Here in Denmark, and takes care of distribution and marketing. Associations such as LGI help the local winegrowers, such as do not themselves have a winery and associated wine business, to maintain the quality standard of their wines and to focus on craftsmanship rather than further marketing.
