Light Horse Pinot Noir (2020)

This Light Horse is made from Pinot Noir and aged in French oak before bottling. A lovely arch-American Pinot Noir that is full-bodied with soft juicy notes and a touch of light barrel toast.

Scent: Nice aroma with cherries and strawberries with a hint of sweet raspberries with a little barrel smoke and chocolate.
Taste: The lovely aromas are repeated in the medium-bodied taste, where the acidity is very friendly and the tannins are soft.
Server for: Light dishes with poultry and pork. It may be served cellar cold.

The wine:

Light Horse Pinot Noir is a red wine from the Jamieson Ranch vineyard in Napa Valley in California. The grapes come from areas in California that are particularly suitable for Pinot Noir, i.a. Sonoma, San Benito and Santa Lucia Highlands. Made 100 % from the Pinot Noir grape and rests in French oak before bottling. It is named after Jamieson Ranch's special breed of miniature horses. Horses of barely one meter high that roam the property. When they are not at work as therapy and service animals.

Wine farm:

Jamieson Ranch Vineyards is the southernmost winery in Napa. To the east lies Solano County and to the southwest San Pablo Bay, whose sea breeze, breeze and cool morning fog cool the area considerably. Here, on average, it is at least 6°C cooler than the northern part of Napa. A climate where you can make big voluminous Cabernets as well as fine Chardonnay and delicate Pinot Noir. Here at the winery, they also make very full-bodied wines from the Zinfandel grape.

Jamieson Ranch was founded by wine veteran Bill Leigon, who also owns the winery today. The first vintage was 2009 and the house has since become known for superb quality at extremely fair prices. Since 2017, the actual wine production has been in Linda Trotta's knowledgeable hands. She has 30 years of experience from i.a. Swiftwater Cellars in Washington and Gundlach Bundschu in Sonoma, and in 2018 was named "Napa Valley Winemaker of the Year" by the North Bay Business Journal.

The winery has also employed an in-house horse trainer, Brandy Lipsey. She looks after the small herd of mini-horses that live on the ranch. A portion of the sales from the wines in the Light Horse series goes to the charity of the same name, which helps children with autism.
