A very elegant glass showing a Blair Athol Whiskey with "edge" given by the finish from the PX Sherry cask. A super "wee dram".

Scent: Fruit, red berries, sweet pipe tobacco, slightly spicy. Everything in a beautiful harmony. Malt taste is weak, but with water it comes out clearly and underneath builds the rest of the scent.
Taste: Spices, pickled plums, hints of marzipan and freshly baked brown cakes. With a little water, ripe apples and red berries emerge.
Aftertaste: Very elegant, with a dryness that allows mouthwash to work. Spices and ripe apples round off the taste. With water, the malt flavor comes out clearly and spices fall back a little.

A Linkwood Whiskey that stands sharp because of cask. If you are into whiskey that tastes of whiskey and not of casks, this is the glass you should treat yourself to.

Scent: Fresh citrus, malt sweetness, vanilla, white chocolate, nuts and "butter scotch".
Taste: Strong malt, followed by honey melon. Spices and hints of white pepper. With water, malt and "butter Scotch" come out clearly and offer complete complexity.
Aftertaste: Lots of nice taste of cask that plays together with the taste of malt, notes of the accompanying dryness and finally rounded off with vanilla.

This is probably one reason why Master Blenders like whiskey from Caol Ila, it has so many sides to offer. And this bottling is one of them. Beautiful harmony of smoke, peat and fresh Islay breeze.

Scent: Yes please. Peat and smoke in beautiful harmony with some fruit and vanilla in the undertone.
Taste: The taste of rich malt wrapped beautifully in peat smoke, honey melon and the taste of cask.
Aftertaste: Light bitterness as in English licorice and espresso coffee which emerges when the smoke veil has calmed down.
