Niepoort Colheita 2008 is an impressive port wine from the historic winery Niepoort, which has achieved an extraordinary year in the Douro region. The 2008 harvest was characterized by ideal weather conditions that ensured a balanced grape production with high acidity and rich taste. The grapes for this port are aged in small oak barrels for 11 years under the expert care of Master Blender José Nogueira. Which gives the wine a deep, brick-red color and complex aromas of wood and dried fruit.

Niepoort is a Portuguese winery, founded in 1842 by Franciscus Marius van der Niepoort and today managed by the Niepoort family. With over 150 years of dedication to wine production, Niepoort has earned an excellent reputation as one of Portugal's leading producers. Their portfolio includes both port wines and table wines, all of which testify to a strong respect for tradition and a passion for quality and innovation.
In the Douro Valley, where Niepoort owns approximately 40 hectares of vineyards located 80 to 250 meters above sea level, the grapes for their iconic port wines are grown. These old vines, many up to 70 years old, benefit from the slatey soil of the Douro and the optimal climate. Various types of port wine are produced here, from White Port to Ruby and Tawny Port, with their Vintage and Colheita port wines in particular recognized among enthusiasts worldwide. Their port wines are known for their great storage potential and in the best vintages can develop for over a hundred years.
Under Dirk Niepoort's management, Niepoort has expanded their production to also include table wines. Since 1991, they have produced red and white wines that exude elegance and quality.
Their red wines are typically dry and medium-bodied, while the whites are fresh and aromatic. Niepoort works biodynamically and without the use of pesticides, which ensures healthy grapes of the highest quality. Niepoort is thus more than a wine house – they are an ambassador for Portuguese wine, and their wines are characterized by both craftsmanship and love for the unique terroir of the Douro Valley.
