Riesling Mure Signature Alsace

Scent: Lovely expressive scent of peach and melon.

Taste: Good soft body and good structure with notes of citrus and dried pineapple in the background with a hint of sweetness.

Serve with: Spicy dishes from Asian cuisine and salads.

Serving temperature: 8-10°C.

This Riesling is made from grapes harvested from nearly 30-year-old vines. The fermentation is carried out with temperature control and on the natural sediment. This helps to give the wine additional complexity. The wine has a slight residual sweetness that is hidden behind the nice acidity. This results in a wine that feels very full.

The area:
The Alsace district is located in north-eastern France and lies on the eastern side of the Vosges mountain range. Here, the fields are sheltered from the worst rain and wind, and provide excellent breeding ground for a wide range of grape varieties. René Muré is located in the town of Rouffach in southern Alsace and has his fields here in the area. It is slightly warmer here than in northern Alsace, and this produces wines that are generally more powerful and bold in structure. Today, René Muré is managed by the 12th generation of winemakers: Véronique and Thomas Muré. The family has been growing wine in this area since 1650 and they bought Clos St. Landelin in 1935. Clos is a term for a field that is fenced with stone. This field is within the appellation Vorbourg, which has Grand Cru classification. This field is completely unique, located with its 15 hectares at the southern end of the Grand Cru Vorbourg. Since 2003, the entire field has been treated according to organic regulations.

The wines in the Muré Signature series are made from grapes partly from own fields and partly from purchased grapes. With the Signature series, Muré presents classic Alsatian wines of high quality at a reasonable price.
