Riesling Kabinett Moselland

Riesling Kabinett is a semi-dry wine with an attractive bouquet with hints of peach and grapefruit.

Mosel wines surprise many with their delicious balance between sweetness and acidity, which means that the wine from there is easy to enjoy and can be drunk as an aperitif, appetizer and with everything good from the sea and light meat dishes.

Serving temperature: 8-10°C.

The wine:

Riesling Kabinett comes from steep and sunny vineyards with some slate in the subsoil, ensuring optimal conditions for the Riesling grapes, which are usually picked in the first half of October. Fermentation takes place in small stainless steel tanks at a low, controlled temperature to preserve the fruity richness of the grapes in the final wine.

The Mosel River flows through France and Germany as well as along the Luxembourg border before joining the Rhine. The steep slopes along the German side of the Mosel are home to some of the best Riesling wines.

The Moselland cooperative is one of the largest and most important producers in the area. Due to their success, the cooperative has grown over the years, so that today they have approx. 2,700 members, each of whom cultivates their own fields – often based on generations of experience with local conditions. The members' vineyards are located along the Mosel on a 250 km. long stretch. In several places along the river, Moselland has built "press houses", where the fresh grapes are pressed before the must is transported to the winery. In this way, the local characteristics of the grapes and a fresh fruit flavor are ensured in the final wine.

Moselland has a team of consultants and winemakers who, in collaboration with the members, ensure that local expertise is combined with modern techniques. The cooperative also has an extensive quality programme, which includes rewards the winegrowers who cultivate the steepest slopes, where the yield is often lower but the quality even higher. In addition, more and more of the fields are cultivated according to organic principles.
