Thorn-Clarke Milton Park Shiraz

This Thorn-Clarke Shiraz from Milton Park is juicy and medium bodied with black dark berries and light spice with ripe tannins. A good and delicious glass for the grill's many dishes.

Scent: Black plums, blackberries and a hint of spice spill out of the glass.
Taste: Wonderfully juicy with black berries, tannins that are soft and ripe, and a good airiness in the fruit.
Server for: Delicious with veal and beef or grilled meat.
Serving temperature: 16-18°C

Milton Park Shiraz is made from 100 % of the Shiraz grape from Thorn-Clarke's own vineyards in the Barossa Valley and surrounding areas. The grapes are harvested fully ripe in March and de-stemmed before fermentation. The must is fermented into wine over a 7-day period at 22-25°C. The must is pumped over the skins twice a day, and in this way optimal color and fruit are extracted from the skins. The wine is then stored in American oak casks to give extra spice and intensity to the wine.

Two great families from the Barossa Valley have joined forces in Thorn-Clarke, now representing six generations of experience in a 100% family-owned company. The house is owned by David and Cheryl Clarke (formerly Thorn), and with them they have their son, who is the general manager at Thorn-Clarke.

The Barossa Valley is located in South Australia and is considered the best area in Australia for the production of top wines. What is unique about the Barossa Valley is a palette of more than 10 different soil types and varying altitudes. Thorn-Clarke's philosophy is that quality wine is born in the field, therefore through several years of acquisitions they have acquired well-placed fields in 4 areas in the Barossa Valley. Here, Thorn-Clarke produces high-level wines on everything from Riesling to Shiraz and thus produces a wide range of excellent wines. It is warmest in the lower part of the Barossa Valley, where e.g. The Shiraz grape has optimal conditions. In the cooler Eden Valley further north, the conditions are perfect for making Riesling.

Thorn-Clarke divides their wines into 4 main series – Milton Park, Terra Barossa, Mount Crawford and Shotfire. At the top, Thorn-Clarke offers William Randell, which is the house's absolute top wine.
