The wine:

Maggiolini means little beetle and the small utility animal is of great importance to the organic wine production of the Di Girolamo family in Sicily.
The Merlot grapes for Maggiolini grow on west-facing fields in Salemi and the Syrah grapes on south-facing fields in Mazara del Vallo. The canes are on average 12 years old. The grapes are harvested manually from mid-September. After 10 days of maceration with the skins in the must, vinification takes place in thermoregulated stainless steel tanks. The wine matures for four months in stainless steel tanks.

The wines for the Maggilioni series come from the Sicilian family Di Girolamo, who have been involved in wine for 50 years. The youngest son Nicola, who is both an agronomist and oenologist, decided to reorganize the production so that it is both organic and vegan and has recently also received a sustainability certification.
Only one vineyard lies in the hills, in the middle of a wind farm. In this way, the field is used not only to produce grapes, but also to produce energy.
There is a modern irrigation system which ensures a constant quality and productivity for all the vines.
