Marsala Superiore Garibaldi Pellegrino
Marsala Superiore Garibaldi Pellegrino Dolce with a taste that is pleasantly mild, persistent sweetness, and an intense bouquet with fine notes of oak.
Scent: Intense and persistent with strong notes of quince, dried figs and vanilla.
Taste: One is sweet and persistent with clear hints of dried apricots and pleasant honey notes.
Marsala Superiore is suitable as an aperitif and for desserts, typical Sicilian desserts with ricotta and as an ingredient in cakes and desserts.
Serving temperature 1214°C.
It is stored in large oak casks for 2 years before the wine is ready for bottling. Subsequently, Marsala ages for 4 months in the bottle before it is released for sale.
The wine:
Marsala is an Italian mulled wine produced on the western side of Sicily, near the port city of Marsala in the province of Trapani. In the past, Marsala was referred to as the fourth mulled wine after Port, Sherry and Madeira. Marsala is produced from the exquisite local grape varieties: Grillo, Cataratto and Inzolia, which are harvested fully ripe at the end of September. The grapes are pressed and added to brandy, which is always more than 5 years old. Thus, Marsala achieves an alcohol strength of 18%.
About the Vinhuset:
Pellegrino was founded in 1880 by Carlo Pellegrino. Know-how and experience have been passed down from generation to generation. Both in terms of the work in the vineyard and the winemaking itself.
In Marsala on the island of Pantelleria, the Pellegrino family owns over 150 ha of the best vineyards on the island, and here they make Sicily's most sought-after wines, which have received several awards. Pantelleria is a small volcanic island approx. 85 km southwest of Sicily. It is windy and picking grapes on the island is hard work. Everything is done by hand, no machines are used in the fields. Pellegrino is a member of the "Consortium for the safeguard and promotion of DOC wines of Pantelleria Island" and is thereby helping to promote wine production on Pantelleria.
