Mac-Talla Mara Cask Strength 58.2 % has notes of the maritime and salty nature that has a great influence on the classic whiskeys of Islay, and Mac-Talla Mara Cask Strength Islay Single Malt Whiskey is no exception.
Scent:
One is deeply marked by smoke and citrus.
Taste:
The taste is reminiscent of BBQ-marinated meat and burnt oak. It's a whiskey too peat heads and adventurous palates. Mara, with its 58.2 % cask strength, shows no mercy, nor does the harsh nature of the island. At 58.2 % alcohol, full strength, no chill filtration or added colour, this is truly the taste of Islay whisky.

Mac-Talla Mara Cask Strength 58.2 % is behind the Morrison family, who have worked with whiskey for five generations. The Morrison family is best known for the ownership of the Islay distillery Bowmore Distillery, which Brian Morrison sold to Suntory in 1994. Mac-Talla means 'echo' in Gaelic and refers to the family's connection to Islay, which reverberates to this day remote and windswept island.
The Morrison family's association with Islay starts with whiskey merchant William Walker in the 1930s. Stanley P. Morrison joined T. William Walker & Co as an apprentice where he learned the trade from end to end. In 1951 he set up his own whiskey company 'Stanley P Morrison Ltd', where he worked with many of the big blending houses. All this led to Stanley acquiring Islay's oldest whiskey distillery, Bowmore, in 1963, and the rest is history. Today, Stanley's son and grandson are behind i.a. Mac-Talla as a natural part of Islay's history. Islay is a unique place steeped in tradition and shaped by the elements. The island is a huge part of the Morrison family, and has been a breeding ground for greatness over time - great history, great heritage and great whisky.
