For a gin and tonic or try it with a Martini or simply with ice.
Langley's Dry Gin is a harmonious gin with a balance of eight botanical parts. Juniper berries from Macedonia, coriander seeds from Bulgaria, sweet orange peel and sweet lemon peel from Spain, cassia bark from Indonesia and peanut mouse from Sri Lanka and an ABV of 41.7%. Manufacturing:
Gin is basically a spirit distilled from grain and flavored with extracts from various plants, mainly juniper. Gin is produced in several places in Europe, but the English one is still considered the best.
A distinction is usually made between two main types: London Dry Gin and "ordinary" gin. Many believe that London Dry Gin refers to where the gin is made. It is in fact a quality designation which guarantees that the gin is produced according to the best method.
London Dry Gin is made from different types of grain (typically barley and corn), which undergo a fermentation process after the addition of yeast and water. The liquid is distilled once in "column stills", which gives a neutral alcohol. The distillate undergoes another distillation, but this time in copper kettles (pot stills). Here, juniper berries and various other flavorings such as lemon peel, coriander seeds and ginger are added during the distillation. By adding the spices in connection with the distillation itself, a more harmonious and rich taste is achieved than "ordinary" gin has. In the production of the latter gin, the second distillation process is skipped. You give gin flavor by simply mixing different flavor essences in neutral alcohol.
Langley's Distillery:
Gin was invented in 1650 by the Dutchman Dr. Sylvius, who worked as a doctor at the University of Leyden. In his practice, Dr. Sylvius a juniper elixir known as genièvre – the French word for juniper. He was convinced that juniper had a beneficial effect in the treatment of kidney and bladder disorders.
British soldiers, returning from the Dutch wars, took the recipe with them to England, where the name was shortened to "gen", which eventually became "gin". It quickly became the English national drink.
Langley Distillery was founded in 1920 as a gin distillery and is thus one of the oldest privately owned gin distilleries in England. In the previous century it had been a brewery. Everything at Langley Distillery is made using traditional methods and in mockery
