La Hechicera Fine aged rum from Columbia, where it is blended and bottled. The rum molasses is a mixture from many countries in the Caribbean. It has not been made public exactly which countries, but it is obvious to guess Trinidad, Barbados and Panama.
It is the Riascos family who have been blending rum under the name La Hechicera for the past 20 years, together with their master blender Giraldo Mituoka Kagana, who with his good nose decides which rums are to be blended together. He was educated in Cuba with Japanese ancestry.
La Hechicera:
Blend of older rums between 12 – 21 years. Here are rums that have been stored separately in barrels according to the solera system. If it is rum from barrels, it is always about ex. Bourbon whiskey barrels.
La Hechicera (pronounced: [la eeh-see-seh-rah] and means "the seductress/enchantress" and is a refined rum without additives such as sugar.
The family chose the name as a metaphor for the enchanting jungle that covers the steppes of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, right up to the Caribbean coastline, where Mother Nature is at her most potent and fertile.
