La Chapelle d'Escurac Medoc (2017)
La Chapelle D`Escurac Medoc 2017 is the 2nd wine from the famous Médoc castle, Château d'Escurac. Normally around 80% of the first wine and only 20% of the 2nd wine are produced, but in the 2017 vintage the vast majority of the wine from the estate is produced as Chapelle d'Escurac.
The wine: Lovely soft but complex with its 13% with notes of dark ripe berries and balanced tannins.
The wine is made with the grapes Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a small amount of Petit Verdot. The Cabernet Sauvignon contributes fluidity, fruit and power, while the Merlot gives the wine finesse and softness. The wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, where 33% are new. A wine in fantastic balance!

About the Vinhuset:
The history of Château d'Escurac dates back to the 11th century. It is only in recent decades that the wine has really caused a stir among Médoc fans. The property is the highest situated on the Médoc. Has a fantastic subsoil, but until 1990 the grapes were sold and vinified at the local cooperative. Everything changed in 1990 when Jean-Marc Landureau bought the property. He made massive investments in both vineyards, production equipment and in the storage cellar, and Jean-Marc subsequently succeeded in placing Château d'Escurac among the very best wines produced in the northern end of the Médoc peninsula.
The proof that the wine belongs to the elite of the appellation came when it actually went on to win the "Coupe des Crus Bourgeois du Médoc" in 1999. This subsequently brought increased attention to Château d'Escurac, and over the past decades the quality has become extremely stable , and the wine is always a good buy.
Jean-Marc Landureau died suddenly in 2017. Today it is his French/Danish daughter Anne Landureau who owns the castle. Anne's mother Merete Løvig Larsen, who is director and day-to-day manager of the castle today.
