Tommy Oddmar Seilen from Sprit & Co's describes his experience with Hødal Whiskey Special Edition 4 as follows:
A whiskey where it was not planned to be bottled now. But when Anders Bilgram discovered that the cask was leaking - and an unknown number of liters of whiskey had been lost, the decision was made that this whiskey should be bottled now! Not an easy decision, but once you taste this whiskey you will probably understand why it was bottled and why it is kept at 50 % in bottled strength.

The scent: Slight mint, white chocolate, pineapple, vanilla and baked apples. And a faint book smoke on the back.
Taste: Pickled pineapple, white pepper, fresh malt with elegant smoky undertones.
Aftertaste: Light dryness of newly toasted cask and malt emerges more and finishes with a faint hint of campfire smoke.

Just one year after the establishment of Nordisk Brænderi, Anders started working with whisky, and the first was launched on his 51st birthday in 2013 – Special Edition No. 1. and in December 2019 Special Edition No. 2 with the name Drunken Deer Whiskey – exclusively for Nordisk Brænderis subscribers in Nordisk Klan.

About the Distillery:

The distillery behind Hødal Whiskey is called Nordisk Brænderi, and can be found in the beautiful surroundings of Northern Jutland. The distillery was established in the spring of 2009 in the wake of founder, Anders Bilgram's, adventurous voyage around the Arctic Ocean in an open boat, Polar Passage 2000. During this long and inspiring expedition, Anders got the idea to start a Danish micro-distillery. He wanted it to be placed in the hilly ice age landscape of North Jutland at Hødalen's spring water with a view over Jammerbugten.

In 2020, for the first time ever, certified organic malt barley was grown on Hødalen's fields. production of whisky, and at the same time the first sod was laid for Hødal Malteri, so that with thoughts of sustainability and ecology Danish whiskey can be produced from farm to table at Hødal.
