Guyana 16 year Single Cask Rum Collectors series rum made on a molasses base and Versailles pot still.

Distilled in June 2006 and bottled in September 2022. Cask no. 29 with a total of 252 bottles.
The rum is tropical and continental aged in EX Bourbon casks and bottled at 53.3 %.

There are lots of flavors here, where licorice and leather mix with tobacco and vanilla and dried tropical fruits. The many years in cask have given a fine touch of cask character, which gives balance in all taste impressions to a delicious round rum that rounds off nicely.

Culturally and politically, Guyana is perceived as being part of the Caribbean community. There is only one distillery left, however, it is among the most important and reputable rum countries in the world. The distillery is the legendary Diamond Distillery. It is close to the capital Georgetown. Here they have collected equipment from many of the now closed distilleries that once lined the Demerara River. In the 17th and 19th centuries, the Demerara region was famous for its sugar – demerara sugar. Known for its rum production from the many of the 300 sugar plantations which had its own rum distillery. The English Navy was the largest consumer of their rum, especially from the Port Mourant plantation, which was an important component of the famous British Navy Rum.
