About the Vinhuset

The Wachau Tegernseerhof Wine producer is a traditional Austrian winery, run by the small Mittelbach family, with Martin at the helm. This is the fifth generation in charge of wine production within Tegernseerhof's cellars and fields. The history of these fields dates back to 1002, when a German emperor granted land, now converted into vineyards, to the Bavarian monastery of Tegernsee. The Mittelbach family manages a generous 27 hectares of these vineyards, known as some of Austria's finest.

Located in the heart of the Wachau wine region, near the town of Dürnstein, the Tegernseerhof has first-class vineyards such as Loibenberg, Kaiserberg and Steinertal. These vineyards are carefully tended to ensure perfection in grape growing. The land is adorned with lush green plants, which promotes a rich biodiversity. Tegernseerhof primarily specializes in producing exceptional wines from the native Austrian grape variety Grüner Veltliner, but also produces wines from Riesling and red grapes such as Zweigelt.
