Glenrothes Whiskey Makers Cut Single Malt 48.8%

Glenrothes Whiskey Makers Cut Speyside Soleo Collection from The Glenrothes is a new series with clear story and direction, moving away from vintages focused on age statements.
All expressions in the series are matured in 100% sherry casks to provide a rich and full-bodied experience. 100% natural colors.
The Whiskey Makers Edition is inspired and shaped by The Glenrothe's own Whiskey Maker, Gordon Motion, who reflects his craftsmanship in selecting the right 100% first fill sherry casks bottled at the whiskey maker's preferred alcohol percentage.

Scent: Fresh oak notes in the scent that is almost resinous.
Taste: Rich and spicy with creamy vanilla and orange peel in incredibly delicious harmony despite the alcohol of 48.8 %.
Aftertaste: Very fruity with orange and a touch of nutmeg.

About The Glenrothes Distillery:

The story of The Glenrothes Distillery begins with the stories of two unusual men. John Stuart, who first had the vision to build a new distillery in the town of Rothes, and Reverend William Sharp, who raised the necessary funds to save the distillery from ruin and helped turn John Stuart's dream into a reality.
Work on the new distillery began in the summer of 1878 with the construction of the still house, which stood out under an impressive pagoda roof. A large warehouse and mash room followed. And on December 28, 1879, the first pure whiskey spirit flowed from the Glenrothes distillery.

A barn – or mill stream – was constructed to divert some of the combustion to turn a water wheel that provided the distillery with all the power required. A railroad siding brought barley and removed the full casks. And most importantly, the soft water provided by the springs upstream ensured that there was an abundant supply of cold crystal clear water. As a tribute to the people of Rothes, the path that crossed the estate remained open. Which means that local people can roam freely through Glenrothes Distillery.

As a man of whisky, James Stuart was convinced that he should use traditional distillation methods together with the latest advances in production technology. His beliefs were built on four basic principles. 1) Having access to a nearby water source to ensure the excellence and purity of his new make spirit. 2) a slower distillation than usual to make it softer single malt. 3) He aimed for the best sherry seasoned casks. 4) To provide a wider range of flavors and a whiskey that is always bottled with natural color.
