This Glenrothes 14 year Nordic Edition Single Cask is full First Fill Sherry Spiced American Cask #5463 on April 4, 2006 and bottled on April 15, 2021 at full cask strength (66.3%).
Wonderful dark dynamics here and a hefty scoop of bourbon wit in the Scottish Speyside sheen. The sweetness is nice caramelized brown sugar and sticks with the character of syrup, dark chocolate, equally dark fudge and all with a licorice-coated vanilla.

About the Distillery:
Glenrothes was built in 1878. In the 1980s, when most distilleries faltered and many put out the fire under the boilers permanently. Here Glenrothes was in progress and extended by two rounds. First they went from 6 to 8 cauldrons, and then from 8 to 10. The whiskey is a main ingredient in the blended Cutty Sark, but Glenrothes has recently had a greater and greater focus on single malt.
Since 2010, the brand has been owned by Berry Bros. & Rudd, which is probably the world's oldest wine and spirits retailer. The traditional store at St. James Street 3 in London is a pilgrimage destination for alcohol geeks worldwide. And the same philosophy of integrity, quality and patience that has been at the heart of their 300-year-old wing business is now the ethos of Glenrothes. It bodes well for the future.
The story of The Glenrothes Distillery begins with the stories of two extraordinary men. John Stuart, who first had the vision to build a new distillery in the town of Rothes. And Reverend William Sharp, who raised the necessary funds to save the distillery from ruin and helped turn John Stuart's dream into a reality. Work on the new distillery began in the summer of 1878 with the construction of the still house, which stood out under an impressive pagoda roof. A large warehouse and mash room followed. And on December 28, 1879, the first pure whiskey spirit flowed from the Glenrothes distillery.
