NOSE: Peaches and cinnamon laced with honey, raisins and sweet grapefruit.
KEY: A rich fusion of heather honey, dates, pineapple and orange zest, with cinnamon and hints of aniseed.

GlenAllachie Distillery:

Established in 1967 and the first "new make" ran from the boilers in February 1968. GlenAllachie, which means "The Valley of the Rocks", was built as a result of the huge whiskey boom of the 1960s. Here, total production in Scotland was increased quite strongly, primarily driven by demand from the American market. The first owners who built the distillery were the company Mackinlays. A subsidiary of Scottish & Newcastle Breweries. The architect responsible for the construction was William Delmé-Evans, who was also behind the design of several other Scottish distilleries. In 1985 Scottish & Newcastle Breweries sold the company Mackinlays to Invergordon Distillers. In 1989, GlenAllachie became part of Campbell Distillers (now Pernod Ricard). In October 2017, the distillery was bought by the legendary Billy Walker and two business partners.

The distillery's equipment
The distillery is equipped with a 9.4-tonne mash tun (mash vat) and 8 washbacks (fermentation vats). Distillation takes place on two boiler sets, which are unusual in that they are very wide at the bottom of the boilers. Another distinctive feature of the boiler house at GlenAllachie is that all the "shell and tube" condensers are placed horizontally above the boilers. GlenAllachie's water supply comes from the impressive Benrinnes, located just behind the distillery itself.

GlenAllachie Distillers Company
was established in October 2017 with the aim of taking over the distillery from Pernod-Ricard. The company is led by Master Distiller Billy Walker, who has more than 50 years of experience in the whiskey industry. By his side, he has as partners Trisha Savage and Graham Stevenson. The company is well-padded after Billy's sale of The Benriach Distillery Company, and you are thereby free to think short-term. Things will be done properly, and it will probably be a bit of a journey that Billy Walker invites us all on.
