Foursquare 2005 16 years – Magnum Series #1 61% (1.5 L)

This 16 year Foursquare was distilled in 2005 and matured in Tropics in ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry casks and bottled in 2021 at the Foursquare distillery. This is the first edition of the Magnum series, a special collaboration between Velier and the famous Magnum Photos agency.

The image on the label is a work by world famous photographer Elliott Erwitt, dated 1970, representing the Peace Memorial Park in Hiroshima.

Magnum Photos, is one of the most important agencies in the world, founded in Paris in 1947 by photographers Robert Capa, David Seymour, Henri Cartier-Bresson, George Rodger and Will Vandivert, in collaboration with Rita Vandivert and Maria Eisner.

This limited edition of 600 worldwide was bottled by La Maison du Whiskey et Velier (LM&V).

About the Bottler:

Velier was founded by the Chaix family in Genoa in 1947 as a small traditional company specialized in the import and distribution of wine, champagne and spirits. In 1983, a young Luca Gargano, former brand ambassador for Saint James at the time, acquired shares in Velier. Under his influence, the company began to specialize in importing excellent spirits exclusively for the Italian market. In the early 90s, Luca heard about a legendary stock of Saint James rum, probably dating back to 1885 and bottled in 1952. After a complex negotiation, he finally managed to acquire the entire stock. This was only the first of a list of legendary picks to come in the following years.

About the Distillery:

The Foursquare Distillery has been run by the Seale family for several generations. And is the most technologically advanced distillery in the Caribbean with a history of rum making dating back to 1820. Reginald Leon Seale is the name of one of the oldest Barbados rum producers who established a distribution business. In Bridgetown at the beginning of the last century. Today, Richard Seale is the master distiller and owner of Foursquare Distillery, and thanks to him, a radical modernization has taken place.

Despite sitting in the middle of a sugar cane plantation, Foursquare imports most of their molasses from Guyana. Rums produced at Foursquare are all a mixture of pot and column stills distillation, combined both before and after being barreled. All Foursquare rums contain no sugar and are distilled and bottled in Barbados. In this regard, Richard Seale calls himself a rum holder who always stands against adulteration, the use of sugar and industrial multi-column. The distillery is designed to be energy efficient and has the most advanced recycling and waste disposal system on the island.
