Chateau Tour Calon, Montagne Saint-Emilion, is deep red in the glass with elegant purple reflections. The fragrance is met by intense floral and fruit notes such as red roses, cherries, ripe plums and raspberries.

Scent: Here you experience intense floral and fruity notes such as red roses, cherries, ripe plums and raspberries.
Taste: Château Tour Calon provides a full and mature experience. The notes from the fragrance again, and are complemented by a light touch of vanilla, chocolate and a little cigar box from the barrel ageing. The wine is in perfect balance with elegant and well-integrated tannins, which create a long finish.
Server for: Beef or veal.
Serving temperature: 16-18ºC.

The grapes for this wine are harvested from 40-year-old vines, and are a blend of 87% Merlot grapes and 13 % Cabernet grapes. At harvest at the end of September, the grapes were optimally ripe. Both the acid level and the sugar content were very high as a result of the very hot summer. Both conditions help to create a wine with a nice balance. Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes are sorted manually to ensure that only the best grapes are included in the final wine.

Vinification is traditional. In order to preserve the noble fruit of the grapes in the final wine, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a low controlled temperature that does not exceed 29º C. After finishing vinification, the wine is aged in a mixture of new and old casks before bottling.

About the Vinhuset:

Château Tour Calon is located in the upscale Bordeaux commune of Montagne Saint-Emilion, a few km northeast of the town of Saint-Emilion.

The castle grounds cover an area of approx. 12 ha. The soils are located both on the plateau and on the côte (slope) that runs through the central Montagne, where the majority of the soil consists of limestone. The soil is poor in nutrients, and produces a naturally low harvest yield, which in turn is of very high quality, because the grapes have struggled to get the nutrition and liquid they need.
