Chateau Tour Calon Montage Saint-Emilion Organic

Elegant and soft organic Chateau Tour Calon Montage Saint-Emilion. The Merlot grapes ensure a full and nicely rounded wine with lots of fruit and intensity in the taste. From the new and old casks, delicious flavors of vanilla and chocolate are obtained that mix slightly with notes of cigar box.

Scent: Intense floral and fruity notes such as red roses, cherries, ripe plums and raspberries.
Taste: Here, Château Tour Calon is experienced as full-bodied and ripe, where the notes from the fragrance recur and are complemented by touches of vanilla, chocolate and a little cigar box from the barrel ageing. The wine is in full balance with elegant and lovely tannins.
Aftertaste: Long-lasting with nice spices.
Serving suggestion: A good companion for beef or veal.
Serving temperature: 18-20°C

The wine:

The grapes are harvested from 40-year-old vines and are a blend of 83% Merlot and 17% Cabernet Sauvignon. At harvest at the end of September, the grapes were optimally ripe. Both the acid level and the sugar content were very high as a result of the very hot summer. Both conditions help to create a wine with a nice balance. The grapes are sorted manually to ensure that only the best grapes are included in the final wine

Vinification is traditional. In order to preserve the noble fruit of the grapes in the final wine, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a low controlled temperature that does not exceed 29°C. After vinification, the wine is stored in a mixture of new and old casks before being bottled.

About the Vinhuset:

Château Tour Calon is located in the upscale Bordeaux commune of Montagne Saint-Emilion, a few km northeast of the town of Saint-Emilion.

The castle grounds cover an area of approx. 12 ha. The soils are located both on the plateau and on the côte (slope) that runs through the central Montagne, where the majority of the soil consists of limestone. The soil is poor in nutrients, and produces a naturally low harvest yield, which in turn is of very high quality, because the grapes have struggled to get the nutrition and liquid they need.
