Chateau Olivier Grand Cru Classe 2016 is a superb red wine from Pessac Leognan in Graves.
Experience: The aroma and taste are long and concentrated with an aromatic taste where cherries and black fruits play well with licorice notes and elegant soft tannins.
The wine: This vintage is composed of the classic grapes from Bordeaux with 50 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 45 % Merlot and 5 % Petit Verdot
Chateau Olivier:
Olivier is a very old fief dating all the way back to the Middle Ages. A fief which was an old country area, which the cook entrusted the administration to the sheriff in return for services. It is said that the prince came to hunt in the surrounding forests where there was plenty of game.
The actual history of the castle goes all the way back to the 12th century and thus one of the oldest castles in Bordeaux. The castle is located just outside the gates of Bordeaux city. Since the 19th century, the château has belonged to the old Bordeaux Bertmann family.
The castle has approx. 55 hectares of vineyards with a terroir excellent for growing both blue and green grapes. The fields consist of gravel and a clay and limestone base with 6 different grape varieties. The geological diversity combined with a clean microclimate means that great wines are made with complex aromas and nuances.
