Caol Ila 15 year old is a special unpeated 15 year old version that was bottled in 2016 and made in a mixture of American and European oak casks.

About the distillery:

Islæ's hidden treasure. it is pronounced “Cull Eela” The Gaelic name for the Sound of Islay. It separates the island from Jura. For some distilleries, their pronunciation is as remote as its location. It sits as it does on the craggy east coast. Here they have been hidden since 1846. Regardless, the fine and smoky country is incredibly exciting to get to know.

Caol Ila was founded in 1846 and much has changed since then. It has been continually rebuilt and expanded since. In 1972, all buildings were demolished with the exception of the warehouses and the distillery we know today now stands there.
Today it is the largest distillery on the island. It produces twice as much as even Laphroaig. In Daiageo's many distilleries, they are today their key component. It has grown in stature as a producer of great whiskies. Here, peated and unpeated single malts are made, from the young new whiskeys to the old and elegant ones. A distillery that can do it all today.
