Bowmore 15 years, is one of the most well-balanced single malt whiskeys in their portfolio from the distillery on Islay. Aged in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks and the last three years in Oloroso sherry casks. This has given the whiskey its distinctive deep dark color with delicious raisins and dark chocolate that harmonizes with the delicious classic Bowmore smoke.
Scent: Dark chocolate with delicious raisin aromas
Taste: As in the scent, the dark chocolate with raisins that balances with the classic Bowmore smoke.
Aftertaste: Wonderful with cedar wood with caramel and spices and Sherry finds its way together with barley.
About the Distillery:
Bowmore is Islay's oldest distillery and home to the world's oldest whiskey maturation warehouse No. 1 Vaults. It is in this legendary warehouse that Bowmore whiskey has been carefully matured by our master distillers for nearly 240 years.
The first recorded mention of Bowmore Distillery; dates all the way back to 1779, but if you talk to the older islanders it is said that distilling started earlier.
Bowmore's founder, the merchant David Simpson, bought the land in 1766. Exactly what happened in the intervening years, no one knows.
When it comes to whiskey heritage, Bowmore Distillery is second to none. They continue to make whiskey following the old traditions, skills and expertise that were made in the early days of Scotch whisky.
