Bowmore 12 years is a single malt whiskey that is described as complex and at the same time in perfect balance with citrus, heather honey and vanilla with smoky notes. It reflects the very essence of the Bowmore distillery, which has proud whiskey traditions through generations. Bowmore 12 years has received massive critical praise, and has, among other things, from the highly respected, now deceased, whiskey reviewer Michael Jackson given it the words “remarkably lasting and complex” along the way

Scent: Lemon and honey balanced with dry smoke.
Taste: Warm and delicious on the tongue that evokes a lovely dark chocolate taste.
Aftertaste: Soft peat smoke that leads to a delicious, long and mild finish.

About the Distillery:

Bowmore is Islay's oldest distillery and home to the world's oldest whiskey maturation warehouse No. 1 Vaults. It is in this legendary warehouse that Bowmore whiskey has been carefully matured by our master distillers for nearly 240 years.

The first recorded mention of Bowmore Distillery dates back to 1779; but if you talk to the older islanders, it is said that distilling started earlier. Bowmore's founder, the merchant David Simpson, bought the land in 1766. Exactly what happened in the intervening years, no one knows.

When it comes to whiskey heritage, Bowmore Distillery is second to none. They continue to make whiskey following the old traditions, skills and expertise that were made in the early days of Scotch whisky.
