BenRiach 22 years Dark Rum Dunder Peated, is a Speyside whiskey that is first aged in American oak casks and finished in dark rum casks from Jamaica.

Scent: An exciting and delicate floral with peat smoke that is bathed by cinnamon in spicy applesauce, a little white pepper adds a gentle warmth to the fragrance.
Taste: Roasted apples and pears dusted with demerara sugar and lemon zest, all infused with a crisp barley sweetness and lingering wood smoke character.

BenRiach 22 Years Dunder Peated whiskey takes its name 'Dunder' from the cane sugar residue, that which is left after rum distillation, something which is then often used as a yeast source for the fermentation process in the production of rum.

About the Distillery

A Speyside single malt Scotch Whiskey as exciting and extra ordinary as Benriach. Whiskey could not have been created without a unique whiskey making heritage. The distillery dates back to 1898. Founder John Duff built the distillery. Benriach is ruggedly beautiful and stands on the site of the old Riach farm in north Speyside. Water is drawn from the mineral-rich aquifer deep below the distillery.

Thanks to a long tradition of distilling three types of whisky; classically unported, highland peated and triple distilled, together with an eclectic selection of casks from around the world, our whiskey makers are able to explore the full flavor possibilities of single malt, creating some of the richest, most multi-layered whiskeys in Speyside.

This tradition continues today under the guidance of Master Blender Rachel Barrie. Benriach is the story of a hidden Speyside gem quietly revealing its treasures to be discovered and enjoyed.
