BenRiach 21 year old single malt that has been produced from a combination of unported and peated spirits. Matured in 4 different for at least twenty one years. Aged in bourbon casks, sherry casks, virgin oak casks and Bordeaux red wine casks. During the long maturation, Benriach's sweet Speyside smoke mellows and integrates with fruit, malt and oak. After twenty-one years, the long aging has developed into an elegant honey smoke, enriched through multi-layer barrel aging. The whiskey from each cask type imbued with distinctive flavor characteristics, then expertly blended together to create a rich and elegant single malt. Layered with lush orchard and toasted pine with a honey smoky finish. Everything in perfect balance.
Scent: The honey gold color sends delicious notes up the glass of berry fruit, orchard apple, wild honey and mountain oak spices.
Taste: Candied grapes, rich cocoa, smoked pine nuts, finish with caramelized pear and honey smoke

BenRiach's Restoration:
Pernod Ricard put the distillery up for sale in 2004 and several interested parties bid. It ended up with Billy Walker buying BenRiach together with his South African investors (Intra Trading), and it was the seasoned whiskey icon Billy Walker who redeemed the distillery's potential. Along with the production facilities, Billy took over a large stock of vintage whiskey from both the 1970s and 1980s.
Production was started immediately after the takeover in 2004, and in September the first casks were filled with newly distilled spirit.
Billy's great expertise is selecting dishes and putting them together. He started by creating different waterings and bottlings of both smoked and unsmoked single malt. It was an instant huge success. The following year, a large number of single cask bottlings with whiskey from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s are launched.
The success of BenRiach continued for the next ten years. A sea of different single malts were brought to the market. A visitor center was opened at the distillery, and in 2012 floor malting was started again.
In 2009, BenRiach was named "Whisky Distiller of the Year", and in 2015 as "Global Whiskey Distiller of the Year".

As co-owners of "The BenRiach Distillery Company", Billy Walker had a couple of South African partners who in 2015 wanted to withdraw from the Scotch whiskey industry. They therefore began to look for new owners for the small distillery group. It should turn out to go very quickly. In the same year, the American spirits group Brown-Forman Corporation took over the group consisting of the three distilleries: GlenDronach, Glenglassaugh and BenRiach.
The distillery's equipment
BenRiach is equipped with a 5.8 ton mash tun, eight washbacks (fermentation vessels) and the distillery has two boiler sets. The maximum capacity is around 2.8 million annually. litres, but that much alcohol is not produced at all.
Today, the owners have chosen to tap a number of different series; "Flagship Range", which consists of classic unpeated whiskey and "Peated Range", which consists of smoked whiskies. In addition, a number of exciting "limited releases" and single casks are bottled on an ongoing basis.
