Baron Gaston Legrand 1984 Bass Armagnac

A Vintages Armagnac from 1984, produced at the traditional distillery Baron Gaston Legrand. Excellent Armagnac with balanced taste and aroma. After a long period of storage, the alcohol loses its aggressiveness and acquires pleasant soft tannins. A flawless, high-quality Armagnac warms body and soul and provides an exquisite pleasure. The year of distillation is indicated on the bottle. And at the same time, you can see a specific date for bottling on the label (15.03.2024).

Armagnac is distilled only once. Armagnac Baron Gaston Legrand is stored in oak casks for several years – first in new casks, so that the drink gets an energetic scent of fresh wood, and then in older casks to give a slow and harmonious maturation. Black oak is more suitable for Armagnac than oak from Tronse or Limousin. The casks, which have a capacity of 700 to 1200 litres, are stored above ground in cellars built of local stone. The aging process, evaporation and mixing follow the same process as for cognac.

After this period, it is poured into glass containers or bottles, where the aging process stops and Armagnac retains all its best properties.

Armagnac Baron Gaston Legrand from 1984 will always be a welcome gift for any occasion and will let you immerse yourself in the traditions of this legendary area, especially as a birthday gift if the date matches.

The birthplace of Armagnac, Gascony is an area in the southern province of France. The mention of Armagnac dates back to the 18th century, when it was used as medicine, but then arose the concept of "cru" for alcohol and the recognition of Bas-Armagnac as the most prestigious area producing the best spirits. The alcohol from grapes in this area is extremely powerful with a long aftertaste and an incredible aroma.

About the Manufacturer

Baron Gaston Legrand is produced by the cognac house L'Heureux (Lheraud), whose history dates back to 1680, when it was owned by Alexander L'Heureux, and the vineyards are located in Petite Champagne, near the town of Cognac. In 1970, Guy L'Heureux takes over the business and is involved in the production and sale of cognac under the name “Sognac Guy Lheraud”. Currently, the property covers 182 hectares of land, of which approximately 80 hectares are planted with the grape varieties Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche and Colombard. The cognac house L'Heureux produces high quality cognac and Pineau Charentes (Pino de Charantes).

As for Bas Armagnac, L'Heureux House bought the estate, which was without heirs, due to the presence of large Armagnac depots to complement the product range. In the second half of the 19th century, the L'Heureux family acquired classic Armagnac stills and obtained permission to produce grape alcohol.

Very often the term "millesime" (one year's distillation) is used for Armagnac. Millezimnye Armagnac Baron Gaston Legrand is the hallmark of the house of L'Heureux, although the current range includes the traditional categories: VS, VSOP and XO. In Armagnac, the diversity of the product is valued: drinks from different vintages from the same producer can have different tastes and aromas.

Good Armagnac shows an interesting variety of flavor nuances. The most typical aromas of Armagnac are seven: hazelnut, peach, violet, lime, vanilla, plum and pepper. Millezimnye Armagnac Baron Gaston Legrand from 1900 and 1995 differ in their taste and different vintages. In the young vintages, notes of peach, violet, mint dominate, and there is always a background of mineral and moist earth. In older Armagnac millezimnyh, the palette changes and berry and wood tones appear, combined with aromas of dried fruit.
