Armorik Sherry Cask

Armorik Sherry Cask is round and warm with candied fruit with a touch of chocolate in the aroma which continues in the taste with greater roundness together with grain notes. Double distillation in copper pot stills.

Scent: Round and warm, evoking candied fruit with a touch of chocolate.
Taste: Energetic and fine wood it develops to give a greater roundness with some grain notes.
Aftertaste: Long and pleasant, pleasantly spicy and refreshing.
Cereal: French barley and Breton wheat.

Ripening: Ex-Bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks are primarily used here. But they also have a close collaboration with the last Breton cooper, who makes some unique Breton oak casks from the local forest.

Climate: Many similarities to the west coast of Scotland. Humid wind, rain and sea breeze, however, with a higher temperature.

About the Distillery:

Distillery Warenghem has created the very first Breton Single Malt Whisky: Armorik. Located on the northern coast of Brittany, which is popularly called the Celtic cousin of Ireland and Scotland. The distillery is independent and has been family owned for over a hundred years.

The distillery was built in 1900, and was originally known for making quality liqueurs from local plants and fruit.
In 1983, passionate director Gilles Leizour decided that Warenghem would be the first French distillery to produce Single Malt Whisky.

For the Warenghem distillery, quality and stability are the most important parameters. That is why they themselves stand behind the entire process behind whiskey distilling. Right from brewing, fermentation, distilling, maturing to also being responsible for pouring the whiskey into the bottle.
