Ardbeg Traigh Bhan 19 Year Batch 5 46.2%

Batch 5 of Ardbeg Traigh Bhan 19 years is an extraordinary whiskey that takes you on a wonderful journey. From Ardbeg Distillery to Port Ellen and beyond, follow the rocky coast until you discover the heavenly view of Traigh Bhan (pronounced tri-van). The beautiful beach known locally as Singing Sands.

This enchanting place has soft white sand that sings beneath your feet, a humming sound that rises and falls with the winds and tides. But even if this place seduces, don't let your guard down. Swimming is not recommended in the apparently calm, crystal clear waters, where sharp volcanic rocks break through the sand along the shore.

Bottled in humid conditions, this rare small batch 19-year-old Ardbeg is possibly the most tropical dram to ever leave the distillery. Ardbeg Traigh Bhan 19 years Batch 5 is a sublime blend of flavors that will take your taste buds on an unforgettable journey.

Scent: Perfumed aromas of delicious tropical fruit float on the breeze, while curious notes of herbal incense and smoke follow close behind. Menthol lozenge and saddle soap go over charred green pepper before smoky mango, guava and coconut blend into an effervescent top note.
Taste: A creamy mouthfeel leads the way into a crashing symphony of herbal, spicy flavors. Smoked maple-buttered bacon, charcoal, white pepper and cloves rush forward amid gentle overtones of outdoors in wood smoke and sea spray.
Aftertaste: A satisfyingly long finish welcomes more tropical notes, with fragrant heather, warm toffee and smoked butter on the horizon.

About the Distillery

Over the years, Ardbeg has experienced many ups and downs on its long journey, shaping it into the iconic distillery it is today. Ardbeg's story is an inspiring tale of unwavering willpower that has overcome all odds.

The distillery has impressed the whiskey world by winning the World Whiskey Of The Year award four times in recent years. Which proves its exceptional quality and proud traditions as one of the best examples of whiskey from the Scottish island of Islay.

The story of Ardbeg began in 1815 when founder John Macdougall established the distillery as a legal commercial enterprise after obtaining a licence. In 1887, the distillery was already producing an impressive 1.1 million liters of whiskey per year. And was the most prolific distillery on Islay at the time. But fortunes turned and in 1981 Ardbeg had to close, resulting in the loss of 18 jobs, a tough time for the island of Islay.

In 1987, Ardbeg was sold and resumed distilling, but things didn't quite go according to plan and the distillery had to close for the second time in 1991. It wasn't until 1997 that it reopened when The Glenmorangie Company. There is again part of Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH); bought it and started investing in both equipment and personnel. These investments bore fruit, and in 1999 production again reached 600,000 liters per year.

It was a fantastic development and in 2008 Ardbeg won the title of 'World Whiskey Of The Year' for their 'Ardbeg Ten Years Old'. An achievement that was repeated the following year when Ardbeg won with their 'Uigedal'. The following year they were honored with the title of 'Supernova'.

Ardbeg's unique characteristic is the perfect balance between the characteristic smoky strength and subtle floral sweetness, making the whiskey a true core expression of the distillery.
