Ardbeg TEN, is a 10 year old whiskey revered worldwide as the peatiest, smoky and most complex single malt of them all. Yet it doesn't flaunt the peat, rather giving way to the malt's natural sweetness to produce a perfectly balanced whisky. Named whiskey of the world in 2008.
Not chill filtered with a strength of 46% ABV.
Scent: One bursts of intense smoky fruit escape into the atmosphere. Peat with fresh lemon and lime wrapped in waxy dark chocolate. Bold menthol and black pepper cut through the sweet smoke followed by tarry rope and graphite. Enjoy the aroma of smoked fish and crispy bacon along with green peppers, baked pineapple and pear juice.
Add water: and an oceanic minerality brings a breath of cool, saltwater spray. Grown lemon and lime comes with coal tar soap, beeswax and pine woods. Roasted vanilla and sizzling cinnamon simmer with warm hazelnut and almond toffee.
Taste: Eexplosion of crackling peat unleashes millions of flavor explosions. Here are peat showers with tart lemon and lime juice, black pepper pops with sizzling cinnamon-spiced caramels. Then comes a wave of brine infused with smooth buttermilk, ripe bananas and currants. Smoke gradually rises on the palate, bringing a mouthful of warm creamy cappuccino and roasted marshmallows. As the taste lengthens and deepens, dry espresso, licorice root and tarry smoke develop, coating the palate with cool peat oils.
Aftertaste: Lang and smoked with tarry espresso, anise, toasted almonds and traces of soft barley and fresh pear.
