Danish Navy strength from AH Riise is a blend of several different, up to 20-year-old rum distillates of the "Vedderburn and Plummer" type, which is a molasses-based rum produced by slow fermentation, which is subsequently kettle distilled in the traditional "Pot Still ” for rum with 85% Alcohol strength.
This has produced a fantastic rum with an extremely dark color with complex notes of coffee, anise, licorice, burnt caramel, molasses, spices and cedar.
Scent: Dark rum with complex notes of coffee, anise, licorice and burnt caramel.
Taste: Roasted caramel, molasses, spices and cedar in a lovely taste with exotic fruits.
Aftertaste: Finishes with a long, massive, bold and sweet aftertaste.
This rum has been recreated from the original recipe of the "Royal Navy Rum" that Albert Heinrich Riise created and supplied to the navy's ships when they called at the port of Charlotte Amalie in the former Danish West Indies (Now the US Virgin Islands).
