AH Riise 1888 Copenhagen Gold Medal Sample Pack – World-class tasting experience
AH Riise 1888 Copenhagen Gold Medal Sample Pack is an exclusive tasting pack that presents a fantastic blend of rum-based spirits from the West Indies and Central America. With a rounded and smooth flavor profile that has been aged in oak casks, this spirit celebrates the honorable gold medal that AH Riise received in 1888. The pack also includes a sample of Non Plus Ultra Very Rare, which is known for its fruity and spicy taste.
Scent: Soft vanilla cream with notes of tropical fruit and a subtle undertone of spices such as juniper and oak.
Taste: Warm spices combined with Christmas cake elements and orange peel, ending with hints of English wine gum.
Aftertaste: A lingering sensation of dried fruits and citrus oils with a soft rounding of old oak and sherry.
AH Riise 1888 Copenhagen Gold Medal Sample Pack is a tribute to Albert Heinrich Riise and his impressive career as an apothecary at Skt. Thomas in the Danish West Indies. This exclusive spirit is composed of several carefully selected distillates from the West Indies and Central America that have matured in oak barrels. The polished amber colored spirit offers a complex flavor profile of warm spices, dried fruits and a subtle note of citrus. Its silky texture and balanced sweetness make it a spirit that easily appeals to new and seasoned spirits enthusiasts alike.
Non Plus Ultra Very Rare
The accompanying sample, Non Plus Ultra Very Rare, elevates the taste experience further with its rich taste of caramel and vanilla, which beautifully balances with notes of sherry and cedar. Non Plus Ultra means "the best", and the name lives up to the spirit's quality, where every drop is hand-mixed by the Master Distiller.
This spirit was created to celebrate Riise's gold medal, which he received at the great Nordic Industrial-Agricultural & Art Exhibition in Copenhagen in 1888. It was an honor for his exceptional products, and this edition carries on the proud tradition with a taste that combines the the best of historical heritage and modern distilling techniques.
About AH Riise:
In his time, he began to produce rum and various bitters. At first it was for medicinal use against stomach ailments and other ailments. He developed various brands such as Old St. Croix, Riise's Guava Rum and AH Riise Rum.
Sales of rum went incredibly well, so well that Riise eventually became a rich and influential man. He was given several positions of trust at St. Thomas, i.a. he became chairman of the Colonial Council, director of Bank og St. Thomas, church warden, member of the Citizens' Council and board member of several companies. In 1860 he became a Knight of the Dannebrog, and in 1878 he became Councilor of State – a rank of high prestige – because he had donated St. Thomas Municipality $6,000 for the purchase of three school buildings.
