Niepoort Colheita 2010

Niepoort Colheita 2010 is aged in casks for a minimum of 7 years before bottling.

Scent: Aromas coming from very old wine barrels have a hint of vanilla with light smoke at the start. Then there are raisins and jam with dried apricots.
Taste: Feels medium-bodied with notes from the fragrance that are soft and delicious and linger in the mouth for a long time.
Server for: Aperitif, desserts, coffee, almond pie and possibly desserts with eggs.

Harvest year 2010:

The year was an extra ordinary wet one. In winter and early spring with heavy rain throughout the period. The entire wine production was affected by the heavy rain and had contracted a number of wine diseases. However, the ripening period was hot and dry. The light rain at the beginning of September helped especially the older vines, planted at altitude, to finish their ripening in a more balanced way.
The harvest took place in the month of September.

The grapes were trodden in foot presses with 100 % stems and reinforced in our port wine production center in Vale de Mendiz. Aged in the cellar of Vila Nova de Gaia in old 550 L. barrels.
The grapes came from vines of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinto Cao, Tinta Francisca, Tinta Amarela, Sousao, Tinta Roriz and others.
